1878-06: “Dab Kinzer” Illustration

In June of 1878, William O Stoddard’s Dab Kinzer: A Story of a Growing Boy began serialization in the St. Nicholas Magazine, volume 5, number 8. That issue contained four of the chapters. Only a few sketches accompany the story and only one of those, shown on page 556 in chapter 2 and captioned, “Dab Gives Dick His Old Clothes”, has Farny’s mark. The story was published in 1908 in book form, but without the images.
