According to an August 03, 1879, article, in The Cincinnati Commercial, Professor Eugene Nice sketched a number of prominent Cincinnatians to be displayed as part of the new “Elite” Saloon on Race Street. This suggests that Farny’s visibility and recognition had risen over the 1870s.
It’s not mentioned how Farny was depicted, other than it was splendidly done.
I could find little about Eugene Nice. Where he is actually a Professor or not isn’t clear. He arrived in the city in 1877, where he began as an assistance under artist and collector Leon Van Loo (and here, and here, and his grave site)
I do not have any images of the cartoons made for the saloon.
