After returning from Vienna in 1873, among the works that Farny completed over the ensuing months included a three-panel Fresco, with the pictures right and left illustrative of Scheffel’s drinking song, perhaps this one, while the middle panel presents the Triumph of King Gambrinus. Another painting is “The Fugitives”, a mother with two small children followed by a faithful servant are fleeing a sacked city. There is more information on that oil painting here.
