1888: Footprints of the Pioneers

In late 1888, Robert Clarke & Company began promoting William Venables book, Footprints of the Pioneers. Farny illustrated six images for the book. Given Farny’s use of the symbol in all pictures, I can’t help thinking he had completed the illustrations prior to 1881, so it seems likely this book took a while to get published.
